Where Youth Creativity Meets Care,
Community, and Protection
The Circular Youth Lab began not from structures, but from survival, care, and creativity in times of crisis.
It started with Fata Mallika Zain, a young visual storyteller and doodle artist, who first found his creative voice during the COVID-19 pandemic, not in galleries or studios, but in isolation, fear, and everyday struggle.
For Fata, doodling was not just art. It was survival. It became a way to navigate anxiety, process emotions, and share hope when everything felt uncertain.
What began as one young person’s quiet act of care soon connected with larger movements: supporting women survivors of violence and raising funds for community health responses.
And today, he continues this journey, co-developing regenerative fashion with Indigenous women artisans, embedding stories into garments, and nurturing a creative ecosystem rooted in care, dignity, and cultural resilience.
Here, creativity is not just personal expression. It is a shared practice of care. And what we create is not only protected — it carries stories, connects lives, and moves across generations.
Framing Nature
This piece explores the relationship between nature and human perception, symbolized by the rectangular frame that contrasts organic and structured elements.
Vibrant landscapes, flowing water, and lush greenery blend with surreal forms, representing harmony and transformation.
Created with alcohol-based markers and fine liners, the work emphasizes bold colors, clean outlines, and layered shading to create depth and movement.
Emerging from Nature
This piece explores the contrast between organic life and surreal imagination. A skeletal hand dissolves into abstract forms, reaching from lush green leaves, symbolizing transformation and rebirth.
Vibrant characters emerge, representing emotions, memories, and subconscious thoughts.
Using alcohol-based markers and fine liners, this work blends precise linework with bold color contrasts, balancing control and spontaneity to create depth and movement.
